Hello gorgeous friends. Brr it’s freezing in Cape Town at the moment. I’m wrapped up in scarves, boots and gloves. And that’s inside! The minute I step out the door I will be adding to my ensemble my new Simon and Mary winter hat in the most marvellous shade of mulberry. Don’t you agree that winter is not all that bad when you have a beautiful hat?

I have desperate for a Simon and Mary wool felt hat ever since I was introduced to the brand at Jackie Burger’s Salon 58 premier in April. I was originally going for a neutral camel colour but then this berry beauty turned my head! In case you’re wondering, it’s the Audrey style, although there are several lust-worthy styles to choose from for both men and women.

Simon and Mary comes from a background of over 70 years experience in headwear, with inspiration born through the generations, to tell the story of what a simple hat can bring. Simon and Mary is based on a family bond within the hat factory. Using machinery bought in the 60’s and continuing the legacy created by the original milliner, Simon Pozniak. The milliner title has been passed down from generation to generation. Hats are in our blood, it is more than a clothing item, but rather a way of life.

You might want to check out the story behind these hats with this fabulous video from Simon and Mary. It’s well worth the watch and shows just how much goes into one hat!

Simon and Mary is based in Johannesburg, but have several stockists countrywide. Find out more on their site.
